About this video
The Sorcerers (1967) is a British science fiction horror film directed by Michael Reeves, starring Boris Karloff as Professor Marcus Monserrat, Catherine Lacey as Estelle Monserrat, and Ian Ogilvy as Mike Roscoe. The film follows an aging hypnotist who develops a device capable of controlling another person's mind while allowing its users to experience that person's sensations.
As Professor Monserrat and his wife test their experimental mind-control technique on the young Mike Roscoe, the experience takes a disturbing turn. Estelle becomes increasingly fascinated by the power the device gives her, using Mike to pursue vicarious pleasures and manipulate his actions. What begins as an experiment gradually develops into a dark psychological struggle involving control, obsession, and the dangerous consequences of abusing extraordinary power.
Featuring a memorable performance by horror icon Boris Karloff alongside Catherine Lacey, Ian Ogilvy, Elizabeth Ercy, and Victor Henry, The Sorcerers blends psychological horror, science fiction, hypnotism, mind control, and 1960s British genre cinema. This 1967 film is particularly notable as one of Michael Reeves' early feature works and for its unsettling exploration of influence, desire, and loss of control.
