About this video
You're Not You (2014) is an emotional American drama directed by George C. Wolfe, starring Hilary Swank, Emmy Rossum, and Josh Duhamel. The film follows Kate, a classical pianist diagnosed with ALS, and Bec, a brash college student who becomes her caregiver. What begins as an uneasy working relationship gradually develops into a deeply personal friendship.
As Kate faces the physical and emotional challenges of ALS and her marriage comes under strain, Bec is drawn into a life-changing experience that pushes both women to confront their fears, regrets, relationships, and ideas about independence. Their very different personalities create moments of conflict, vulnerability, humor, and genuine connection, giving You're Not You its intimate and character-driven tone.
Based on Michelle Wildgen's novel, You're Not You explores caregiving, illness, friendship, marriage, personal growth, resilience, and the value of living fully in difficult circumstances. Hilary Swank leads the cast as Kate, with Emmy Rossum as Bec and Josh Duhamel as Evan, while George C. Wolfe brings the story to the screen as a sensitive 2014 drama about two people whose lives are transformed by an unexpected bond.
