About this video
Comet (2014) is a distinctive romantic comedy-drama with sci-fi elements, written and directed by Sam Esmail and starring Justin Long as Dell and Emmy Rossum as Kimberly. The film follows their complicated six-year relationship, beginning with a chance meeting during a meteor shower and unfolding through a series of emotionally charged encounters.
Told through a nonlinear structure that moves across different moments, locations, memories, and parallel possibilities, Comet explores love, timing, attraction, uncertainty, and the fragile nature of relationships. Dell and Kimberly's connection develops through witty conversations, romantic encounters, disagreements, and moments that reveal how differently two people can experience the same relationship.
Featuring Justin Long, Emmy Rossum, Kayla Servi, and Eric Winter, Comet stands out for its intimate storytelling, unusual narrative style, and atmospheric approach to modern romance. With its blend of comedy, drama, romance, and science-fiction ideas, this 2014 film offers a thoughtful and unconventional portrait of a relationship shaped by memory, chance, and the passage of time.
