About this video
Mayday (2026) is an action-packed Cold War buddy comedy starring Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh. Directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, the film follows U.S. Navy pilot Lieutenant Troy “Assassin” Kelly (Ryan Reynolds), whose top-secret mission into Russian territory goes disastrously wrong, leaving him stranded behind enemy lines.
With survival at stake, Troy’s only hope is Nikolai Ustinov (Kenneth Branagh), an eccentric former KGB agent who discovers the stranded pilot. Their unlikely alliance becomes the heart of Mayday, blending espionage, military action, survival, adventure, and character-driven comedy against the tense backdrop of the Cold War. The cast also includes Maria Bakalova, Marcin Dorociński, and David Morse.
Released in 2026 as an Apple Original Film, Mayday delivers a distinctive mix of spy-thriller tension, action-comedy energy, wilderness survival, and an unexpected cross-enemy friendship. With its Cold War setting, Russian wilderness backdrop, and Ryan Reynolds–Kenneth Branagh pairing, the movie offers an engaging action adventure built around survival, unlikely cooperation, and international intrigue.
