Slasher movies are a subgenre of horror defined by a masked or unidentifiable psychopathic killer stalking and brutally murdering a group of people, usually young adults, often with bladed tools. Popularized in the 1970s and 1980s, these films often feature high body counts, the "final girl" trope, and, in many cases, a focus on victims with "loose morals"
