Kadaisi Vivasayi is a critically acclaimed Tamil drama film directed and written by M. Manikandan, centered on Maayandi, an elderly farmer who remains the only active cultivator in his drought-affected rural village. Played by Nallandi, Maayandi lives a simple life devoted to his ancestral land, farming, livestock, and traditional agricultural practices even as other villagers have moved away from cultivation. The film combines rural realism, gentle comedy, social commentary, and emotional storytelling to explore the relationship between people, agriculture, land, tradition, and community.

The story takes an unexpected turn when Maayandi becomes involved in a criminal case after being wrongly accused in connection with the deaths of peacocks found on his farmland. What begins as an apparently straightforward legal problem develops into a thoughtful examination of bureaucracy, justice, rural life, and the widening distance between traditional communities and modern systems. As the villagers face the consequences of abandoning agriculture, Maayandi's knowledge and dedication to farming become increasingly important to the community.

Nallandi delivers the central performance as Maayandi, bringing an unusually natural quality to the character; he was a real farmer, and director M. Manikandan specifically wanted someone with genuine knowledge of farming for the role. Vijay Sethupathi appears as Ramaiah, while Yogi Babu is also part of the principal cast, with Ravi Prakash and Raichal Rabecca among the supporting performers. The film features music associated with Richard Harvey and Ilaiyaraaja and cinematography by Manikandan.
