Nearly three years after Amazon MGM Studios first announced it was developing a television adaptation of Rebecca Yarros' bestselling Fourth Wing series, the 24-year-old has been cast as Violet Sorrengail in the upcoming Prime Video show, according to multiple outlets.

Joining her as her love interest Xaden Riorson is German-born actor Emilio Sakraya, best known for Those About to Die and Tribes of Europa.

For fans of the Empyrean fantasy series, this casting marks a major milestone for a project that has been in development since 2023. But for those unfamiliar with McGregor, here's what you need to know about the actress stepping into one of the most beloved roles in modern romantasy.

An Acting Career Built on Strong Foundations

McGregor has been steadily building her résumé with roles in some of the most talked-about projects of the past two years.

She starred as Mirren Sinclair Sheffield in Prime Video's We Were Liars, based on E. Lockhart's bestselling novel. In 2024, she appeared in two high-profile films: A24's Babygirl, playing the teenage daughter of Nicole Kidman and Antonio Banderas, and Pedro Almodóvar's The Room Next Door, portraying the younger version of Tilda Swinton's character.

Her other credits include the 2023 indie Bleeding Love, starring alongside her father and sister Clara, and a guest role in the 2022 Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi.

The series was officially greenlit by Prime Video in May 2026, with Meredith Averill (Locke & Key) serving as showrunner and executive producer. Michael B. Jordan's Outlier Society is producing, with Lisa Joy (Westworld) directing the pilot.

No release date has been announced yet, but the series is expected to arrive in the 2027-2028 season.
